1. Melbourne

Melbourne is the city of art, coffee, and people who are a lot cooler than you. Any time of year that you go you won’t be disappointed. Between the amazing night life, cafes, shopping, sport and entertainment, you can’t go wrong.

To see the trendiest sites in Melbourne hit up Fitzroy or Collingwood. Take a stroll down Chapel Street, Brunswick Street and Gertrude Street to really make yourself feel like everyone in Melbourne is way trendier than people in Sydney. Make sure you also catch a game of AFL at Melbourne’s iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Melbourne is a quick one-hour flight from Sydney and is perfect for a weekend away to escape all the chaos back home. Oh also, did we mention there’s no lockouts?

2. Tasmania

Is Tasmania on the top of your list for getaway destinations? No? Well it should be!

For all you nature-nuts out there Tasmania is the place to be. It is one of the most peaceful and naturally beautiful parts of Australia. If you are up for a bush walk check out some of these breathtaking scenic routes:

Do you want to release your inner hippie? Then Byron is the place for you. This tranquil beach is a quick flight or road trip away from Sydney.

5. Blue Mountains
